From what she eats to how she starts her day, the nutritionist shares the healthy living rules she never compromises on.

Life doesn’t change in a day. It takes small habits and everyday efforts to bring changes you genuinely want to see in your life in terms of mental and physical health. Paridhi, a gut health nutritionist, shared a few habits she follows for a healthier life in an Instagram post dated August 23, 2026.

Paridhi captioned, “These are a few little rules I’ve made for myself as a nutritionist. Things I’ve found genuinely make a difference to how I feel and how my gut and brain behave. And honestly, none of this is rocket science! They’re tiny, low-effort changes that pretty much anyone can try instead of looking for the next big gut-health fix. Sharing my non-negotiables in case you want to steal a few for yourself.”

Never sits right after eating

Paridhi highlighted that she never allows herself to sit right after eating anything. According to her, even a little post-meal movement can support motility and transit your food through the gut. There are multiple benefits of walking after every meal.

Belly/diaphragmatic breathing before big meals

Paridhi always practices diaphragmatic breathing before big meals as it helps the body shift out of fight-or-flight mode into a calmer state by increasing parasympathetic activity, significantly supporting our digestion post meal.

Consumes prune everyday

Another important thing Paridhi never skips is consuming prunes every day. She highlights that they are an easy and reliable source of fibre and the most natural form of gentle laxative that you can get. Prunes draw water into the bowel and soften your stool consistency and frequency.

Three colours on plate

According to Paridhi, she ensures that she always has at least three colours on her plate. She highlights that plant colours reflect beneficial phytochemicals. It’s the simplest visual cue to consume a wider diversity of plants and improve our microbiome health.

Chewing food until mushy

Optimal digestion begins in the mouth, and chewing well does half the job by getting your stomach ready for churning your food and moving it efficiently through the digestive tract, hence reducing the chances of bloating and indigestion.

Avoiding spicy food

Spicy food can aggravate symptoms like burning, reflux, and abdominal discomfort. Paridhi intentionally avoids this. According to her, food can taste better even without adding so many spices.
