Reportedly, these tourists were from New York and were traveling to Agra, presumably to visit the Taj Mahal. Those injured were identified as Louis, 58, Andria,56, Carla, 60, Katie, 22, Rohanda, 52, and Paul, 53.

Delhi sees season's longest fog spell; rail, air traffic hit

India Meteorological Department officials said the Palam observatory, near the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, recorded visibility levels below 1,000 metres from 8.30 pm on Sunday to 4.30 pm on Monday.

100 flights delayed as season’s thickest smog envelops Delhi

The fog led to visibility dipping to 50 metres at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport from 10pm on Monday till 4am Tuesday, delaying around 100 flights. Five other flights were diverted to Jaipur between 11pm and midnight on Monday, officials said.

The first flight diversion at Delhi airport was reported at around 11.25pm on Monday.

100 flights delayed, 2 diverted as dense fog envelops Delhi

According to airport officials, two flights -- SpiceJet flight at around 11.45 pm, and an IndiGo flight at 2:15 am – were both diverted to Jaipur. They added that these are the first diversions due to fog this season.

These passengers can reschedule, cancel Air India fog-hit flights for free

The Tatas-owned airline has launched the 'FogCare' initiative to mitigate the impact of disruptions due to fog on passengers, and it will be initially for the flights departing from and arriving at Delhi airport.

In a release, the airline said the effort will also help in easing congestion at the airports.

Fog delays 14 Delhi-bound trains by one to five hours

According to the Northern railway, the Goa-Hazrat Nizamuddin Vasco Garib Rath was delayed by five hours and 30 minutes followed by the Dibrugarh-Delhi Brahmputra Mail and Varanasi-New Delhi Kashi Vishwanth Express by fours hours and 30 minutes.
