According to the Union ministry of finance, the collection for September this year stood at ₹197 crore, ₹22 crore less than ₹219 crore collected during the same month in 2023.
The rise in collections in Chandigarh was attributed to enhanced compliance measures, including scrutinies, inspections and audits, said an official of the excise and taxation department
The collection in June is higher than the ₹1.73 lakh crore collected in May 2024. It is 8 per cent higher than ₹1.61 lakh crore mopped up in June 2023.
