Corpus fund to take care of kin of KGMU teachers who die on duty
The King George?s Medical University teachers? association will contribute one day's salary every month for up to five years to create a corpus fund to help the families of teachers who die while in service. The interest from the fund will help such families financially. The association's members were also re-elected unopposed, including Dr KK Singh as president. Dr Singh called for the university to get its executive council four elected members in addition to the existing nominated members to ensure that decisions related to patient care and teacher services are thoroughly discussed.

XBB 1.16 mild in nature, Pune experts call for elderly to take booster dose
Experts in Pune, India have warned that the new Covid variant XBB 1.16 is one to watch, as it is mild but highly infectious and can evade natural and vaccine-induced immunity. Elderly and those with co-morbidities have been advised to take the booster dose. XBB 1.16 is a recombinant sub-variant of Omicron and is one of more than 600 Omicron sub-variants.
