Additional advocate general Monika Kohli, who is CBI’s special prosecutor in the case, said, “Today, the court issued a fresh production warrant for the physical appearance of Malik on the next hearing on December 22 as he had refused to cross-examine the witnesses via virtual mode.”

Jailed Yasin Malik began his indefinite hunger strike on Friday morning after the Centre did not respond to his plea that he be allowed to physically appear in a Jammu court hearing the Rubaiya Sayeed abduction case, in which he is an accused.

Rubaiya Saeed, now 55 years old, is the daughter of former Union home minister and former Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) chief minister, the late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. She is the sister of former J&K CM and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief, Mehbooba Mufti.

On May 10, Malik pleaded guilty under sections 16 (terrorist act), 17 (raising funds for the terrorist act), 18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist act), and 20 (being member of terrorist gang or organisation) of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and sections 120-B and 124-A of the IPC.
