The New Moon reaches its exact phase at 11:27 p.m. EDT on September 10, 2026. The event falls during Virgo season, which began on August 23. In astrology, Virgo is linked with routines, work, health, organization and everyday responsibilities. That makes this New Moon less about making one dramatic change and more about looking at what you do each day.

Tetiana Tsvil, an astrologer and spiritual advisor at Nebula says the New Moon can shift your attention toward practical areas of life. “The New Moon in Virgo marks the beginning of a new cycle in areas of daily life: work, responsibilities, health, nutrition, habits, schedules, household routines, and organizing your living space.”

When is the September New Moon in the US?

The September New Moon occurs on September 10, 2026, at 11:27 p.m. EDT. For people on the US West Coast, the same event occurs at 8:27 p.m. PDT.

The New Moon itself is not usually easy to see. During this phase, the Moon sits between Earth and the Sun, so the illuminated side faces away from Earth.

What does the New Moon in Virgo mean

If your routine has started to feel messy or exhausting, this New Moon may be a useful point for reflection.

You might notice that you want to clean your space, organize your schedule, finish an old task or change a habit. Tsvil says the focus can fall on removing things that no longer serve your everyday life. “During this period, you may feel the need to review your daily routines, eliminate the unnecessary, and, over time, create a more comfortable way of life.”

Why you may want to slow down

A New Moon is often associated with new beginnings in astrology, but Tsvil does not suggest turning this period into a race to become more productive.

“Due to low energy, heightened sensitivity, or apathy, you shouldn’t push yourself for maximum productivity; instead, it’s better to wait and put all your plans into action in a few days.”

That means you can use this time to prepare rather than forcing yourself to complete every plan immediately.

What should you do during the September New Moon?

Keep your reset simple. Clear a cluttered area, finish a task you have delayed, review your schedule or remove something unnecessary from your routine.

Tsvil recommends choosing one specific area instead of trying to fix everything simultaneously. “Choose one area of your daily life that most needs change right now, and take one specific action.”

The next couple of weeks can then become a period for putting that decision into practice, whether you want to build a new habit, organize your home, learn something new or work toward a personal goal.

How long does the September New Moon energy last?

Tsvil says the influence of the New Moon can be felt for several days before and after September 10. She also considers the following two weeks useful for putting plans into action, strengthening relationships, learning and getting everyday affairs in order.

The bigger Virgo theme remains practical. Instead of asking how you can completely reinvent yourself this month, ask a simpler question: what one change would make your everyday life easier?
