A speeding tempo ran over a four-year-old child, killing him instantly, on Monday evening in east Delhi's Krishna Nagar area.

The incident took place around 5.30pm, when the boy Krishna and his parents were returning home to Rajgarh Colony on their scooty.

The tempo, with a UP registration hit their vehicle from the front. In order to avoid the speeding tempo, Krishna's father swerved the vehicle, that toppled over.

Though the parents fell on the pile of garbage, the boy fell on the road and came under the wheels of the tempo. "The child died on the spot," said a police official. The police have arrested the driver, and the truck has been impounded.

A call was made to the Police Control Room at 5.40 pm. The locals took the family to nearby Gopal Nursing home, where he was pronounced dead.
