NPSC starts workshop on leadership skills

As many as 30 principals from different parts of the country participated in the event on the opening day of a five-day residential programme inaugurated by CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi.

Four sessions held on the inaugural day touched upon key issues such as leadership skills, gender sensitisation, value education, accreditation and assessment to enhance school education. The subjects discussed were merged with value-based education as well as the CBSE's Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system. The participants also learnt about Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA) that will soon be made online.

The training sessions emphasised how an innovative approach can help deal with challenges and create a sense of ownership. "We should be pioneers in imparting values in terms of curriculum, thinking system, developing democratic practices and ingraining them into students' hearts," said Ameeta Mulla Wattal, resource person and principal, Springdales School, Pusa Road.

The NPSC, a group of about 150 leading private schools as members, came into existence in the early 1970s.
