Sources said in the past eight months, the monkey menace has scaled new heights. During this period, the commission’s online system has been disrupted thrice, affecting its work.

With the municipal elections scheduled for April 2012, the commission has been facing difficulty in carrying out its work. The officials have been instructed to the keep the windows of the rooms shut throughout the day to avoid monkeys.

“Our broadband system has been disrupted thrice and we’ve not been able to send or receive any online communication, which is hampering our work. With the polls scheduled in Delhi and Chandigarh, we’re losing out on time as we’ve to communicate on phones or ask our staff to send or receive official papers,” said a senior official.

The commission claims to have informed the MCD about the problem, but the agency has done nothing so far. “Besides monkeys have created mayhem in our Kashmere Gate office by damaging chairs and tables,” added the official.
