Mumbai-based fashion designer Riyaz Gangji, who was arrested in Mumbai on Saturday on charges of assault, alleges he was “wrongly framed”.

Gangji, who was granted bail at the Santa Cruz police station, allegedly beat up residents of his Juhu housing society after an argument over encroachment. Confirming the news, senior inspector Madhukar Chaudhuri said, “Riyaz and his driver were arrested after the incident.”

Riyaz, however, claims, “There was no encroachment, nobody was beaten up, I did not hurt anyone. False charges were pressed. When you are so popular, this is what happens.”
