On Basant Panchami, Agra remembers ‘people’s poet’ Nazeer Akbarabadi

Born in 1735 in Delhi, Nazeer came to Agra and lived in Noori Darwaza locality known for petha making. He was known as ‘Wali Mohammad’ initially but due to attachment with the city , he became popular as Nazeer Akbarabadi as the city of Agra was then known as ‘Akbarabad’. Sunrays | Roses are passé, marigolds are divine

There are three aspects of Trinity – they are Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Brahma is the creator, Vishnu is the protector or the one who sustains, and Mahesh is the destroyer of evil.

When Lord Brahma created the universe, he felt that there was no melody in his creation. Everything was quiet. So, he created Sarasvati and asked her to fill the world with music, rhythm and melody. This day is celebrated as Basant Panchami. Goddess Sarasvati is the consort of Lord Brahma. (Representational Image/ HT )
