Punjab CM Mann announces closure of toll plaza on Moga-Kotkapura road

Moga CM Bhagwant Mann announced the closure of the Singhawala toll plaza, accusing previous governments of allowing the "open loot" of the public. This is the 10th toll plaza to be shut since the AAP came to power, saving people ?44.43 lakh in toll fees. Mann also criticized the lack of ambulance or recovery van facilities at the closed toll plazas. The agreement for this toll plaza was signed in 2006, but fines for delays were never recovered from the company. The company had requested an extension due to farmers' agitation and COVID-19, but the government denied it.

Chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday announced the closure of the Singhawala toll plaza on the Moga-Kotkapura road near Chand Purana and targeted the previous governments for “the open loot of general public through these shops”.
