Militants misusing social networking sites: Antony

Defence minister A K Antony on Thursday said militants in Jammu and Kashmir and the northeast were misusing social networking sites and the government was planning to take steps to prevent such misuse.

Defence minister A K Antony on Thursday said militants in Jammu and Kashmir and the northeast were misusing social networking sites and the government was planning to take steps to prevent such misuse.

"We know some people are misusing the (social) network (sites). At the same time, we are particular such misuse should not be repeated," Antony told reporters here on the sidelines of a defence function.

"For that, we will take proper corrective actions. We will not allow that and we will put proper safeguards," he said when asked if the government was considering any measures to stop such misuse of social networking sites by militants.

"We will take a decision after applying our minds seriously and studying the issue seriously, we will put in proper safeguards. At the same time, we are not for taking hasty decisions," he said when asked when such preventive measures would be put in place.
