Over 100 sheep charred to death in blaze in J&K’s Samba

Mistaken identity: Labourer killed in firing along IB

ASP Surinder Choudhary said, “Late Friday night, an untoward incident took place near Regal post along the IB. The individual was moving suspiciously near the BSF post.” He said, “The suspect was challenged by the BSF men as per standard operating procedures. He, however, did not stop to the BSF warnings and as a result jawans opened fire. He was injured seriously and shifted to a hospital where he died.”

Anti-tank mine found in J&K’s Samba

A rusted anti-tank mine was found on a river bank in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Saturday, police said.The lethal device was noticed by a villager on the banks of Basanter river near Bainglar village this afternoon, said a police official.

Tarn Taran inter-state heroin smuggler held

Kulwinder Singh of Gujarpur village in Tarn Taran was arrested in a joint operation with Punjab Police, a police spokesman said, claiming it to be a “major success” in the fight against narcotics smuggling.

The accused, an inter-state heroin smuggler, was booked in a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Samba last month.

Army shoots down Pakistani drone along LoC in Rajouri

“On the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, the troops of the Army in coordination with the J&K Police recovered a drone crossing the LoC from Pakistan into the Indian territory in the Beri Pattan area of Sunderbani sector in Rajouri,” said defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand.

“A search operation was launched at the first light on Sunday along the LoC in Poonch where the body of one intruder was recovered at the encounter site. BSF pushes back suspected Pak drone near IB in Ramgarh sector

“A blinking light was observed around 12.15am on the international border in the night in general area of Ramgarh. Alert troops fired towards the blinking light due to which it was forced to return. The area is being searched thoroughly,” said a senior BSF officer.
