Abdul Latif Ganai, alias Umair alias Dilawar, was arrested by Delhi Police’s Special Cell late night on January 20, Delhi police officials said.

For the first time, a lady officer,Lt Bhavana Kasturi will lead a contingent of the India Army Service Corps’ and Capt Bhavna Syal, a third-generation officer in the armed forces, will front the transportable satellite terminal’s contingent.

On the Yellow line, entry and exit at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan will remain closed from 6 am up till12 noon and at Patel Chowk and Lok Kalyan Marg between 8.45 am and 12 noon.

The man, on being interrogated by the Intelligence Bureau and Delhi police, told the police he was trying to check if explosives can be carried inside the metro.

Lance Naik Nazir Wani, who had joined the Indian Army giving up terrorism in 2004, will be awarded Ashok Chakra posthumously this Republic Day. Wani lost his life in November last year during operations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian.

Dense fog forecast in Delhi for Republic Day, minimum temperature to drop

The IMD has warned that dense to very dense fog could cover Delhi almost every morning over the next few days and cold wave conditions may return as the minimum temperature is expected to drop to around 4 degrees Celsius again.

India has handed over a pre-invite to the White House to find out if it is convenient for President Donald Trump to pay a visit in January to be chief guest at the Republic Day celebration, said a government official who did not want to be identified There has been no response yet from the White House, the official added.
