BMC awaits MMRDA nod to repair ‘precarious’ WEH flyover at Chakala

The BMC had taken possession of the WEH from the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) in November 2022

The VJTI audit report said that the superstructure of the flyover was in damaged/ distressed condition; the pedestals were severely damaged and in precarious condition; and major repairs and strengthening work should be carried out as per recommendations on priority (Hindustan Times)

MSRDC collected 120.84 crore in toll on two highways in six months

Car owners in Mumbai and surrounding areas have paid ₹120.84 crore in toll for using the Eastern and Western Express Highways in the first half of 2023, according to data from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation. The toll is for the flyovers and bridges across the city, not the highways themselves, said Radheshyam Mopalwar, managing director of MSRDC, in response to a demand from a local politician to stop charging motorists for using the highways. Toll rates for cars are ₹40 for one way.

82 stunt bikers rounded up in overnight special drive on WEH

All the bikers were booked by Kherwadi police for speeding as well as illegal betting. They were all booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Motor Vehicles Act and the Gambling Prevention Act. All those caught participating in the races were produced in the court on Tuesday and were granted bail on surety of ₹10,000 each.
