Lok Sabha elections 2019 Phase 6: Delhi voter turnout among lowest in seven states after 8 hours of polling

Bihar was slightly better than Delhi with 20.70 % voter turnout, Uttar Pradesh recorded 21.75%, Haryana- 23.26%, Madhya Pradesh 28.25% and Jharkhand 31.27%.

At 3 pm, the voting percentage in Delhi was among the lowest with the state recording 45.16% turnout on Friday when 50 seats went to polls in 7 states in the sixth and penultimate phase of Lok Sabha elections .

Bihar was the lowest with 44.40 per cent voting and Bengal the highest with 70.51 %, , according to figures released by the Election Commission.

Uttar Pradesh recorded 43.26 % voter turnout, Haryana- 51.68%, Madhya Pradesh 52.62% and Jharkhand 58.08%.

The day started with the Prime Minister appealing to the voters to come out in large numbers.

“Yet another phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections is here! Urging all those whose constituencies are polling in today’s sixth phase to go out and vote,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

“I hope youngsters are voting in record numbers. After all, their participation makes the polls even more special,” he wrote.

The Prime Minister has tweeted ahead of every phase since the first one to remind voters to cast their franchise.

Fifty-nine parliamentary seats are going to the polls in seven states in the sixth of the seven-phased election with a number of high-profile fights in regions where the BJP performed well five years ago.
