Manoj Saunik is state’s new chief secretary

In the race for the top post along with Saunik was his batch mate and wife Sujata Saunik, which was reported by HT in a story titled, ‘Saunik vs Saunik: Who will be the next chief secretary of the state?’ on March 24. Sujata Saunik is ACS, general administration department. The third contender for the post was Nitin Kareer, additional chief secretary (revenue).

Saunik, a journalist-turned-bureaucrat, was the private secretary to the then union power minister Sushilkumar Shinde, from February 2006 to July 2009, and then in the department of defence production for two years, till November 2012. He has been heading the finance department since August 2019. Coastal Road-affected fishers to get first instalment of compensation by June: BMC

Around 1,343 fishers affected by the Coastal Road project in South Mumbai will receive the first instalment of their compensation by June, with an initial disbursement of around ?130 crore expected to be approved by the BMC's finance department soon. Boat owners will receive between ?2,29,810 to ?4,56,903 per boat per year, while cast-netters and hand-pickers will receive about ?97,000 per year. Hand-pickers and cast net fishers will be entitled to compensation for an additional six years beyond the completion of the project's construction.

Haryana hikes state employees’ DA by 4%

Haryana state government employees’ DA has been enhanced from the existing rate of 38% to 42% of the basic pay with effect from January 1, 2023, according to an order issued by additional chief secretary (ACS-Finance) Anurag Rastogi on Thursday.

India sees all-time high GST collection worth 1.42 lakh crore in March

The gross GST revenue collected in March 2022 is ₹1,42,095 crore, of which CGST is ₹25,830 crore, SGST is ₹32,378 crore, IGST is ₹74,470 crore (including ₹39,131 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is ₹9,417 crore (including ₹981 crore collected on import of goods).
