GST collection rises 8% to 1.74 lakh crore in June

The collection in June is higher than the ₹1.73 lakh crore collected in May 2024. It is 8 per cent higher than ₹1.61 lakh crore mopped up in June 2023.

The Integrated GST (IGST) worth <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>39,586 crore was settled towards Central GST (CGST) and <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>33,548 crore towards State GST (SGST).

GST mop-up hits 1.61L-cr in June, Q1 average at 1.7L-cr

India's Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue in June rose nearly 12% YoY to over ?1.61 lakh crore, the third-highest monthly collection ever, reflecting robust business activity and stricter compliance. The average monthly GST collection in Q1 2023-24 was ?1.69 lakh crore, suggesting that ?1.60 lakh crore will be the new normal for monthly revenue. The consistent growth in revenue indicates sustained economic momentum amid global headwinds. The Indian economy grew at 7.2% in 2022-23, surpassing the government's projection of 7%.

Chandigarh sees wettest June day since 2021

Overnight, around 8 mm rain had taken place but after 5:30pm, 35mm rain was recorded within a couple of hours. This has been the rainiest day of the year yet. It is also wetter than all of June last year when the highest amount of rain received was 17.6 mm on June 17.

With 43.2 mm rain in just a span of two hours on Friday morning, the city saw its wettest June day since 2021 when 47.2 mm rain was recorded on June 12. (HT File)
