Delhi zoo set to receive hornbills from Assam

The Capital will receive the hornbills in exchange for four black bucks — a trade-off approved by the Union ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MoEFCC), the officials said

The animal exchange was finalised and approved by MoEFCC on March 25, and is likely to be completed over the next fortnight. (HT)

Baby hippo, gaur big draws at Delhi zoo; white tiger cubs to be revealed soon

While the baby gaur was born on April 1, the hippopotamus calf was born on March 11. With this, the zoo now has six hippos, four of which are adults. Meanwhile, the gaur count has increased to 10, following the birth of the gaur calf, officials said

Tiger cub dies at Delhi zoo weeks after mother’s death

Pandey said the cub died of “acute complications” on Tuesday. “The post-mortem examination has been performed, and its viscera is being sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Bareilly, for further examinations,” he said.

Wolf from Mysuru dies of snake bite at Delhi Zoo

Although rare, this is, however, not the first time an animal has died in the Delhi zoo because of snake bite. In September 2007, a Rhino died of a snake bite.
