12-year-old girl lured by woman, gang-raped by man and three minors in Delhi

Traffic disrupted on Old Railway Road due to pipeline repair work

Repair work on a sewage pipeline disrupted traffic on Old Railway Road in Gurugram, with traffic diverted for a fortnight. The work was needed to repair a damaged septic tank that was causing a foul smell in the area. The road is a major thoroughfare used by thousands of commuters and connects Rajiv Chowk to the railway station, sectors 4, 7, New Colony and other residential areas. More than 20 traffic police personnel have been deployed to divert traffic towards Pataudi Chowk.

Two arrested for thrashing man to death in Delhi’s Sadar Bazar

Senior police officers said the deceased, identified by his first name as Mangal, also hailed from Nepal. He was working as a watchman and living with his family in Sadar Bazar area.

Delhi: 470 kg of firecrackers seized from godown in Sadar Bazar, seller held

The suspect took a small godown on a monthly rent of ₹12,000 to store firecrackers, which he procured from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and was planning to sell them at a higher price ahead of Diwali

The seller has been arrested and a case has been registered under IPC sections 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and sections of Explosive Act at the Sadar Bazar police station. Delhi’s Sadar Bazar area shut till Tuesday over violation of Covid-19 norms

The official closure order stated that shopkeepers, street vendors and customers were found flouting Covid-19-appropriate behaviour in the Sadar Bazar area, which would lead to super spreading of the virus.

The closure order is, however, not applicable to shops dealing with essential goods and services in the Sadar Bazar area.

A week from Diwali, 11 licenced shops but scanty supply of green crackers

With just a week left for Diwali, traders from the wholesale markets of Sadar Bazar and around Jama Masjid said that they will be meeting senior police officials to present their plight and request permission for sale of green crackers.

The official said that while there is a limited supply of such crackers in the market, the police is stepping up action to stop any sale of old, polluting varieties of fireworks.(Hindustan Times)
