China upgrading airbases and air defence facilities along LAC, say experts

Besides the heliport in Doklam sector, the Chinese side is also working on two more heliports in Ladakh sector, one in Rutog county near the northern bank of Pangong Lake and another at Tianshuihai near Galwan Valley and Aksai Chin, according to the experts.

Satellite imagery shows PLA building heliport at tri-junction of India, Bhutan,China

The suspected heliport is located almost equidistant from the two sites at which the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is developing surface-to-air missile facilities, according to imagery tweeted earlier by @detresfa. Both the missile facilities are near what have been described as “suspected early warning radar sites” opposite Sikkim state.

Moderate rainfall with occasionally intense spells likely over parts of India: IMD

Floods ravage Bihar, Assam; rain causes landslips in Sikkim

Floods have ravaged 27 out of 33 districts, affected more than 2.6 million people and displaced a population of 47,772, which has taken shelter in 564 relief camps across the state, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority ’s daily flood report released on Saturday.

Sikkim starts Rapid Antigen testing along borders, bans entry of Covid-19+ve security personnel in state

The state, which shares international borders with China, Nepal and Bhutan, didn’t register a single Covid-19 case till May 22. The first case was reported on May 23 when people started returning after the nation-wide lockdown was relaxed. Till date there no death has been reported.

Security personnel testing Covid positive won’t be allowed to enter Sikkim: State govt

Rapid antigen tests will be conducted exclusively on security personnel, including those from the Army and the paramilitary forces, at the Rangpo border check-post from Saturday onwards, a senior health official said.

Heavy rains are expected in Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days. Widespread rainfall is also expected over Madhya Pradesh for the next five days and over Chhattisgarh and the Vidarbha region on Monday and Tuesday.

Recoveries exceed active Covid-19 cases in India, rate climbs to 58.24 per cent

Sikkim records spike in Covid-19 cases, govt defers reopening of schools

On Friday, 50 people, most of whom had returned from Mumbai tested positive for Covid-19. With this, the number of cases reached 62 till Saturday afternoon. Four people have so far been cured.
